Loan Officer Training - The Mortgage Business Has Provided A Built In Holiday Gift Just For You
If you're a Loan Officer in the Mortgage business, you may want to thank the industry for what's going on. I know this will sound a bit crazy, but stay with this and understand the thought process here.
For most of this year, Mortgage Brokers and Loan Officers have been getting beaten up by just about everyone. Home prices aren't the highest they can be, underwriting guidelines have been tightened and people just aren't refinancing much. Because of all this, a lot of people in this industry have left for one reason or another.
I spoke with a national trainer and who was flown in to do a training for a major broker shop in a major city. She told me everything went fine and everyone was fired up when she left. Less than two weeks later, the Broker shop closed. That really shocked me as I'm sure it does you as well. With shops closing, Loan Officers leaving the industry, and Lender's changing their guidelines, it's like survival of the fittest in the mortgage business. If you are still in the mortgage business and are looking at this as a bad thing, guess what? You are looking at it WRONG!
Let me ask you this, what was one of the items you had to overcome with your sales and marketing? You had to overcome your competition. Now look at it; your competition has gotten thinner and thinner with ever month that goes by.
This is the Mortgage Industry's gift to you! A greater chance of getting more business! Hold on there though, just because a borrower has less of a choice doesn't mean you can get lazy with what you do, you actually have to step it up and go above and beyond what you've been doing. Why do I say this, because of referral business? If you over deliver for your clients, they will talk you up ever more and, with less competition, you can actually gain more referrals just by doing what you were trained to do....Close Loans!
