Back to Basics. How often do loan officers hear that phrase? Probably quite a bit, I know I did, and still do. The challenge we all run into is we get too busy we all forget what the heck we're doing. When we forget what we're doing, it's easy to procrastinate. So, when you're sitting there procrastinating, think about this little strategy to kick start your mortgage business.

The key to succeeding in this business is to do something. When you're doing something, it starts a chain of events happening that you shouldn't be able to stop, which is what every loan officer wants to begin with, right?

The question then comes up, "what am I supposed to do?"

That's just it, it doesn't matter what you're supposed to do, just do something! Doing ANYTHING is better than doing nothing. Think about this, especially in the mortgage business...

I would much rather have a whole lot of doing something wrong and that whole lot of doing nothing, wouldn't you? The bottom line is you're doing something.

Look at it this way, if the something you're doing isn't producing, then you know you have to change that something, or tweak it a bit, right? If you're doing nothing, you'll get nothing and there's nothing to tweak. It's really pretty straight forward, isn't it?

The challenge is, a lot of loan officers have no clue what to do, so they sit there and wait for the phone to ring. When it doesn't ring they get frustrated and eventually quit the business. If I just described you, I'll save you the pain and the headache, quit now. If you're not doing anything you will NOT succeed in the mortgage business, get out now.

But if you ARE doing something, keep it up because doing something is a LOT better than doing nothing!
